This new horror and magic co-op game is breaking all the rules

Daniel Foster
Ever dreamt of unleashing total chaos with your friends and reducing everything around you to rubble using nothing but your powers? I might just have found the perfect game for you—and it’s coming out in a matter of days.

The Joy of Chaotic Co-op Games

I have a soft spot for wild, unpredictable co-op games. Some of my best gaming memories are undoubtedly the evenings spent with friends on Lethal Company, where I’d be desperately trying to find my way through the level while watching the Bracken drag away the corpse of one of my unfortunate buddies. Let’s just say, the idea of bringing that chaotic co-op vibe to a magical Harry Potter-esque world? I’m all in.

Here Comes YAPYAP: Magic, Mayhem, and… Toilets?

As mentioned before, YAPYAP is a co-op game for up to six players. You and your friends become the loyal servants of a powerful wizard. Your mission? Break into the rival sorcerer’s tower and sow chaos in the most spectacular ways possible. How, exactly? By smashing absolutely everything. Whether it’s breaking the furniture, wrecking magical collectibles, or even clogging up the toilets, you’re given practically free rein when it comes to achieving your destructive goals.

Your master isn’t exactly known for his patience, though. You need to meet a strict destruction quota in just three days. Thankfully, you get to use magic, ranging from the classics, like levitating objects, to the totally offbeat—yes, the infamous “fishification” spell is a thing. But instead of simply pressing a button, you cast spells using your own voice. Spoiler alert: you’ll have to pay close attention to your pronunciation, even when things are getting out of hand.

Crystal Escapes and Shopping Sprees

At the end of each night, you can exit the tower using a teleporting crystal, whisking you back to your base camp. All the destruction you’ve caused turns into cash, which you can then spend in the shop. Pick up health potions or get your hands on better wands, unlocking even more destructive spells. Don’t worry—retail therapy exists even in magical chaos!

Surviving the Tower: Enemies, Friends, and Questionable Teamwork

Destruction is only half the job. You’ll also need to stay alive amid the horrors lurking in the archmage’s tower. Between seriously ugly goblins, haunted suits of armor, and giant spiders, there’s no shortage of creatures out for your blood. If you do get taken out, don’t panic: your friends can bring you back with a (generously evil) ritual—just make sure they recite the series of words correctly. Of course, that’s assuming you’re lucky enough to be surrounded by capable teammates (which, let’s face it, is not always the case…)

And the enemies aren’t your only problem. Your own allies can be just as much of a roadblock as any monster. Their spells work on you—and the money earned is shared. So when your teammate spends recklessly in the shop and can’t stop hurling tornado spells at your character, you may well start to think teaming up with a goblin is the lesser evil.

Developed and published by indie studio Maison Bap, the game heads to Steam on February 3, 2026. The community is already rallying: over 26,000 players are following its page, eager to dive into magical chaos with friends. For my part, my evenings are already booked.
