The mobile gaming industry was valued at over 100 billion in 2024. Mobile gaming is a phenomenon that can be traced back to the early toys and devices of the 70s and the 80s. However, the first commercially recognized was Tetris, marking the beginning of mobile gaming on handheld devices.

The development of the iOS app store in 2007 and Play Store (formerly Android Marketplace) in 2008 revolutionized mobile gaming by providing a platform for developers to distribute games to users. Today, this multibillion-dollar industry features a wide range of genres and technologies, including augmented reality (AR), cloud gaming, and blockchain-based games. One of the main contributors into this industry is Poland.

Being home to over 500 game production and publishing studios and employing over 15,000 professionals, Poland’s gaming market has the potential to shape mobile gaming trends in 2025. In this article, let’s try to analyze the Polish mobile gaming scene and its impact on the trajectory of the current mobile gaming trends.

It’s undeniable that some of the main contributors of the non-stop evolution of mobile gaming is the relentless pursuit of realism and simplicity. This pursuit has created a unique situation where real-life trends can be the hot topic in the world of mobile games. These have a direct influence on current mobile gaming trends.

Focusing on user experience and user interface, here’s a quick look at the current key trends in mobile gaming.

User Interface: Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technology, Cloud Gaming in Mobile Gaming

Tech-wise, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology and the cloud are the pride of the 21st century. However, these innovations weren’t integrated into mobile gaming overnight. Popular online gaming platforms, especially leading iGaming portal in Poland, were the first to integrate these innovations in their systems to improve people’s experience.

For example, Blockchain has played a key role in creating a transparent and secure environment for online casinos. Thanks to the distributed ledger technology, players can be assured of fair gaming and protection of their data. More and more casinos in Europe, including Poland, are offering support for cryptocurrencies, allowing for fast and anonymous transactions without banks.

Now, these innovations are leveraged in mobile gaming to improve user experience and accessibility while playing mobile games. This can range from adjusting game difficulty according to player behavior to analyzing gameplay patterns in real-time to ensure fair multiplayer experiences.

User Experience: Social and Multiplayer Experiences and Popularity of Hyper-Casual Games

User experience is all about engagement and presently, the popularity of social and multiplayer experiences and hyper-casual games is glaring. Now, gamers often opt for games that allow them to share experience, clips, and be a part of global leaderboards that allow them to show off their skills.

Asides this, the current frenzy of the gaming scene is hyper-casual games. What are hyper-casual games? Originating from casual games that are designed to be easy-to-learn and play, hypercasual games take simplicity to an extreme, featuring basic mechanics that can be understood instantly, minimalistic graphics, and simple user interfaces.

Stated in an interview with Samantha Benjamin, Director of Growth and LiveOps at Supersonic from Unity, “the hyper-casual market has seen significant growth since its emergence around 2016. Although it faced a decline due to post-COVID economic adjustments, it still accounts for a third of mobile gaming impressions. Checking out top trending mobile games around the world, and in Poland, hyper-casual games like Wall Kickers have dominated the charts and continue to dominate due to their simplicity and accessibility.”

What’s Next?

As stated, the evolution of mobile gaming is unending, bringing about the unavoidable question; what’s to expect next regarding trends in the mobile gaming industry?

  1. Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality. First up, AR and VR Gaming. Augmented and Virtual reality is standalone tech that offers a full immersive experiences to its users, ranging from transporting you to a new world to creating interactive experiences with real life locations and items.

Although already a highly recognized trend, this innovation is not widely available to gamers due to costs. However, with the current rate at which the tech is being fine tuned to cost less and be more comfortable, it won’t take long before it becomes a worldwide sensation.
  2. Gaming on 5G. Another that has laid it foundations and is expected to receive more traction is 5G gaming, although facing the same issues as AR and VR, costs. With the 5G network, mobile gamers get to enjoy faster, more reliable gaming experiences, enabling new genres and gameplay styles. Overall, we expect this to catch on way earlier than  the trend of AR or VR gaming.

Poland’s Role in Shaping the Future of Mobile Gaming
